Checking your flow rate is an important part of planning your irrigation system. This will help to determine if you will need to zone your system.

To begin, you'll want to get a bucket, of known size (2 gallon, 5 gallon, etc...), and a stopwatch.

You'll fill a bucket at your water source with the water source fully open. Use the stopwatch to time how long it takes to fill the bucket to the top.

Next, you'll enter your figures into the flow rate calculator. The results will tell you how much water is flowing out of your source over a period of time.

This will calculate your maximum flow rate or flow capacity. The results generated by this calculator will help you determine the maximum size drip irrigation system that your water source can service.

As this is such a common question, our awesome videography team has made a video on how to check the flow rate of your water source!  This can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGxJaqQeg94
